About Relate Training

Relate Kent is a registered charity, part of the national Relate counselling organisation, the acknowledged experts in relationship skills.  We are based in Kent, employing several trainers who as well as being experienced Counsellors have also gone on to qualify as Relate Trainers.

Lynne Murphy, the Training Development Manager and your first point of contact, has worked for Relate for over 22 years, growing the training division into a successful and thriving part of Relate Kent, working with voluntary and statutory agencies, charities and private sector organisations, schools and prisons, helping them to develop a greater understanding of how to improve relationships and develop counselling skills.  Course participants can then use these skills to work more effectively with colleagues, service users, family and friends.

We also offer courses for individuals, delivering courses throughout Kent on a regular basis, covering topics such as Basic Counselling Skills, Supporting Distressed & Emotional People, Parenting Apart and Moving Forward (for divorced or separated people).

Relate’s workshops can help you

  • Learn how to deal with difficult situations
  • Improve or maintain relationships, both at work and at home
  • Achieve better outcomes for both staff and the people you work with

All workshops are tailor-made; clients are asked to complete a training needs analysis and liaise with the Trainer to ensure learning needs are met. Workshops can be delivered either on your own premises, at a suitable venue or online.  We offer a standardised system of supervision and quality assurance which is highly regarded and integral to the whole philosophy of Relate.

We can also work directly with service users, helping them deal with the life challenges they may be facing.

Costs vary according to content and duration.  Most workshops can be offered as a one-day course for a minimum of 6 participants (maximum 12).  Courses can be delivered virtually or face to face, if suitable. Most one day workshops cost £1000 (no VAT as we are a registered charity).

“I would like to thank you for putting on such a worthwhile workshop,  the trainer was so knowledgeable and empathetic.  She not only used her own personal experiences but brought the group together so everyone had an opportunity to discuss their own issues.  I will be putting so much of the theory into practice over the coming months, if not years.  thank you again”
